Ms. Hong obtained her Doctoral degree in Collaborative Piano on full scholarship from New England Conservatory of Music in USA, where she also received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with Academic Honor and Distinction in Performance.  Among her main teachers are Irma Vallecillo, Margo Garrett and Martin Katz.  In 2003, she assisted in establishing the Graduate Institute of Collaborative Piano of Tainan National University of the Arts, the very first institute of Collaborative Piano in Taiwan. She is currently a full-time associate professor and serves as the director of the Institute.

A native of Taiwan, pianist Pei-Chi Hong has been sought after as a chamber musician with footprints across many continents.  She has collaborated with renowned artists such as James Buswell, James Dunham and Ushioda Masuko.  In 2001, Ms. Hong was invited to perform with the principal Woodwind Quintet of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the Kitara Hall in Sapporo, as well as numerous principal artists from Philadelphia, Toronto, and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras in chamber recitals.  In 2005, she was invited to perform, give collaborative piano master classes, and serve as a jury member at the FestaCazone (Artsong Festival) in Singapore.  From 2003 on to 2015, she was the guest pianist in the International Clarinet Festival in Taiwan. In 2009, she was the Taiwan Government grant recipient and since then she was invited to perform in many cities in USA.  Besides being active in performing and teaching, Ms. Hong enthusiastically devotes herself in academic research in the collaborative piano arts as well.  Staring from 2010, she has been hosting International Collaborative Piano Symposium seven times at TNNUA in Taiwan.  She has also been very active in publishing conference papers, and published a book “The Sound Color of Ernest Chausson from a Collaborative Pianist’s Viewpoints” in 2019.
