Hello, I`mLynelle Smith
Lynelle Smith holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Performance Diploma in Violin from The Juilliard School. Her principle teachers were Dorothy DeLay, Masau Kawasaki, and Paul Kantor.
She is passionate about teaching and currently pursues this career in New York City at the Kaufman Music Center. She is faculty at both the Special Music School and the Lucy Moses School. She has served as the Artistic Coordinator for the Kaufman Music Center’s Summer Stringfest since it’s inception in 2009.
Lynelle also teaches at the Opus 118 Harlem School of Music in NYC and holds the title of Pedagogy Facilitator for this program. She acted as a violin coach for the Miramax film “Music of the Heart” starring Meryl Streep, who portrays Opus 118 founder, Roberta Guaspari. Lynelle has collaborated with Roberta in teaching numerous Pedagogy Seminars for Opus 118. She is former faculty at the Third Street Music School in NYC and the JCC Thurnhauer School of Music in New Jersey.
She has performed across Europe and the United States; including performances at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, and Notre Dame Cathedral. She has participated in master classes and (or) coachings with Itzhak Perlman, Dorothy DeLay, Joel Smirnoff, Eugene Lanier, and Walter Trampler.
