Hello, I`mJülide Yalçin
Jülide Yalcin was born in Ankara. She began her violin studies in 1981 at the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory with Prof. Murat Tamer. She was later sent to the Lyon National Conservatory of Music for a year as part of a cultural exchange program, where she continued her studies with Jean Estournet and Véronique Riou. She graduated from the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory in 1990. In the same year, she passed the audition for the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and became a first violinist.
She earned her Master’s degree in Music and Performing Arts at Bilkent University under the guidance of State Artist Prof. Suna KAN, graduating in 1992. Between 1992 and 1996, she completed her Graduate and Artist Diplomas at the New England Conservatory and the Longy School of Music on a Fulbright Scholarship. During this period, she studied with Eric Rosenblith and chamber music with Louis Krasner, Eugene Lehner, Isaac Stern, Felix Galimir, Daniel Phillips, and Benjamin Zander.
Ms. Yalçın has performed alongside renowned artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Leon Fleisher, Seiji Ozawa, Bernard Haitink, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gilbert Kalish, Reinbert de Leeuw, Yehudi Wyner, and the Juilliard String Quartet. She has also collaborated with composers such as György Ligeti, Herman Weiss, and Theo Loewendie in interpreting their works.
Among her numerous accolades, she won First Place in the “Lyon National Conservatory Violin Competition” (France) and received an “Honorary Mention” award as part of a violin-piano duo in the “Shoreline Alliance” chamber music competition (USA). She has participated in several prestigious national and international festivals, including the “Yellow Barn” and “Tanglewood” Music Festivals in the United States. In Bulgaria, she served as concertmaster and soloist at the Varna Summer International Music Festival and gave masterclasses and recitals at the New Bulgarian University.
Ms. Yalçın has performed numerous solo recitals in Turkey and abroad, appearing as a soloist with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, Izmir Symphony Orchestra, Çukurova Symphony Orchestra, Bursa Symphony Orchestra, Antalya Symphony Orchestra, Eskişehir Symphony Orchestra, Brampton Symphony Orchestra, and Sofia Symphony Orchestra.
In 2008, she founded the Suzuki Music Education Association of Turkey. In 2015, she became the first female concertmaster of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and was promoted to Associate Professor in the same year.
She has taught at the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory and Başkent University State Conservatory. Her CD, Kırsaldan Ezgiler—a work based on Turkish composers—is available on the digital platform GlossMusik GmbH in Germany.
Ms. Yalçın has performed in prominent concert halls worldwide, including Bulgaria Hall, the Berliner Philharmonie, Tonhalle Zurich, Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, and recently at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City, where she performed as a soloist on December 17, 2024, in celebration of the work of the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
She currently serves as the first concertmaster of the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra.
