Hello, I`mGregory Sandomirsky
Gregory Sandomirsky is consistently praised for his complete mastery of the violin, beautiful sound, impeccable intonation, natural musicianship and profound soloistic flair. Mr. Sandomirsky started his violin education in the USSR at Krivoy Rog Lysenko Music School. He graduated with honors from Krivoy Rog Colllege of Music and received his Masters in Violin from Odessa Conservatory. He began his teaching career at Odessa (USSR) Conservatory of Music as assistant to Professor Mordkovich, and later taught violin and chamber music at Kirovograd and Krivoy Rog Colleges of Music. In the United States, Sandomirsky was a member of the faculty at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. Mr. Sandomirsky’s pupils currently teach at world leading musical colleges and play with major orchestras around the world.
Since 2009 Mr. Sandomirsky is a member of the jury of IBLA Gran Concorso (Italy). In 2012 and 2013 he was a Co-Chairman of the same competition, he also has performed master classes to the participants.
In July of 2013 Mr. Sandomirsky was tutoring the second violin section of Youth Orchestra of Italy at their famous conservatory in Fiesole.
Mr. Sandomirsky successfully participates as a soloist, a concertmaster and a teacher in many festivals and summer courses like Adriatic Chamber Music Festival (Italy), Endless Mountain Music Festival (USA), Academia Musicale Chigiana di Siena (Italy), Oldenburg Promenade (Germany), Boccerini Academy di Lucca (Italy), and more.
From July of 2013 Gregory Sandomirsky has been a faculty member of the International Music Academies (summer festival) in Cremona, Italy.
Mr. Sandomirsky has served as concertmaster with the Leningrad State Chamber Orchestra, Collegium Musicum Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Ricerkar Tula Chamber Orchestra, and Music at Penn Woods Festival Orchestra, etc. Prior to his concertmaster engagements, he performed as a violinist with the Moscow State symphony. From 1990 to 2011, Mr. Sandomirsky served as the associate concertmaster of Kansas City Symphony, as well as concertmaster of Kansas City Camerata and Concertmaster of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. Currently he is the associate concertmaster Emeritus of the Kansas City Symphony.
His work as a soloist includes performances with Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Kansas City Camerata, Penn Woods Chamber Orchestra, Columbia Chamber Orchestra and the Kansas City and St. Louis Ballet, as well as appearances at Moscow International Music Festival and City Stage Music Festival at Birmingham, Alabama. He has performed numerous recitals with Odessa Trio, as well as remarkable duos with pianists Bair Shagdaron and Stanislav Ioudenitch, with jazz pianist Bram Wijnands and with guitarist Beau Bledsoe. The Sandomirsky-Bledsoe Duo produced a recording with music of Astor Piazzola and Manuel de Falla.
Mr. Sandomirsky has particular interest to jazz. He performs with various jazz musicians like Bram Wijnands, Hal Milia and others.
With Bram Wijnands, Sandomirsky performed their arrangement of Four Seasons by A. Vivaldi, and music by G. Gershwin (jazz standards plus arr. by J. Heifetz, B. Wijnands and G. Sandomirsky).
In October 15-17 of 2015, Sandomirsky successfully performed at the festival “Golden Violins of Odessa” in Odessa, Ukraine. Additionally to the festival he gave master classes in College of Music, Krivoy Rog, Ukraine; Gliere’s Music Academy, Kiev, Ukraine; Odessa Conservatory and Stolyarsky’s School of Music, Odessa, Ukraine.
