Violinist Stefan Hersh is active internationally as a chamber musician, soloist, orchestral musician and pedagogue. Hersh serves as the director of String Chamber Music for the Chicago College of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where he has been a faculty member since 2003.
Hersh was previously the head of the string department on the faculty of De Paul University. He has been featured as artist/faculty at Bard College, University of Arizona, Flagstaff, Grinnell College, University of Illinois, Carbondale, University of Illinois Macomb, and at festivals including the Colorado College Summer Festival, the Olympic Music Festival, the Moab Music Festival, Festicamara, Medellin, Colombia, and Campos do Jordao Winter Festival, Brasil.
Hersh’s career as a performer has included four year as Principal Second Violin of the Minnesota Orchestra, and two years as Associate Concertmaster of the Vancouver Symphony. Hersh was a founding member of both the Chicago based Callisto Ensemble, and the Chicago String Quartet.
